Social networks as a tool for expanding and protecting human rights

This article explores the role of social media in promoting and protecting human rights. The key successes and shortcomings of social networks in the field of expanding and protecting human rights are identified, and certain cases of the influence of social networks on the safety of citizens are reviewed and analyzed. The patterns of development of normative legal acts regulating the activities of social networks are characterized, and the reasons for the inadequate effect of existing laws in this area are established. Also, the impact of social networks on crime rates in countries around the world has been assessed. Measures have been proposed to reduce the level of crime on social networks, as well as measures to expand the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of humans and citizens, including their protection
